Pabst Blue Ribbon?

This is not a question, but a statement, defending PBR.PBR is a fine beer, yea sure its cheap, but that fact just adds to its glory. i have had almost every brand out there, and some taste like crap, some taste the same, some are better than others, but PBR is a legend. all you punks just turning 21 dont believe the hype, get yourself a case of PBR, drink like a real man. Miller High Life is also worthy of this title.

Way back in my drinking days..... Pabst was the best! We could drink at age 18 back then.....



My class motto was: "Reach into the future...but don't forget the past" I was on the gym decorating committee for graduation.......... We had the slogan archer over the stage in the gym...... I added a letter "b" and the slogan read, "Reach into the future...but don't forget the Pabst" The principal came into the gym....and he said..."do you see something wrong up there?" I looked and read all of it out loud except the last word......, and said, "No....no I don't..." He said, "look again......" I again read all of it out loud except the last word.. and then I said, "Oh yeah.....I see what's wrong......." The principal told me he would be back in a half an hour and it better be fixed! When he came back....... I fixed it by adding a big blue ribbon!.........

This too is not an answer, but a statement. PBR is typical American beer - mostly made from bland grains like rice. I like the add on TV where the guy is sitting in a bar and realizes he can't taste his beer anymore. To make great tasting beers that appeal to American tastes, you only need to be careful with the hops (which add bitter taste). When malted barley is cooked up properly it adds fullness and flavor. Try a pilsner or a lager like Sam Adams, just don't get the dark varieties if you are used to PBR. Yes it costs more, but its stronger and is something you can sip and enjoy, not just chug and get blotto on. 'Course if that's the plan.....

Pabst Blue Ribbon received a gold metal at the Great American Beer Fest for best American Style lager in 2006. It is an excellent beer, and its affordable. Miller Highlife is good in the bottle, in the can, it's really bad. In the bottle however, it is an excellent beer.

The only justification for drinking PBR is that it costs $1 in a bar. And even then, you shouldn't touch it until you have had about 3 or 4 decent beers. At that point, you will have transitioned far enough into beer drinking mode that you don't really notice how nasty it tastes.

Ahhh, the memories of sneaking and crawling around our parents lawn chairs on nice evenings---grabbing for a Pabst and taking sips out of them---while the whole time they know what we are doing and thinking, yeah, they will be crashing out early tonight!!!---so they could enjoy the rest of the evening drinking good ol Pabst! Hell, that should of been a Milwaukee's Best commercial---It doesn't get any better than this!!!

Since the trademark owner of PBR is now investing a lot of money sponsoring music festivals and also underwriting NPR shows I would think PBR is available again throughout the USA. I believe Miller Brewing contract brews it. Just ask at your favorite beer store. (But why would you WANT to drink the stuff?; just another thin, watery American lager)

Both beers you mentioned are terrible. Life is too short to drink that urine!



Try an Avery Maharja IPA, or a good Trappist. For that matter, try a Shiner or a Sam Adams.
