Doctor's orders. Has you even been told by the family doc to drink alcohol?

That is how I got my name here, hello I am Doctor's Orders. Years back I was with my grandmother as she was melancholy about the "old days." She was just going off on one of her "3" drink story times when she told us about her doctor telling her to drink whiskey for chest congestion. Apparently there is truth to whiskey + hot tea + lemon or honey. The whiskey is a sedative and numbs pain, the hot tea loosens phlegm, and the lemon or honey is for taste.

So just now i got to wondering if this may be true for others too. Have you any experience with the old timers cure and has your family doctor told you or other family member to drink whiskey for an illness?

This really got me rollin in the aisle because I had (RIP babcia) a grandmother that did the same thing. Only my old granny would pop out the bottle without a doctors order. If you coughed you got a spoonful, bite your tongue, you got a spoonful, and all the time she helped herself too. When she mumbled something in polish I ask my father what she said. It was just about she was warding off the same bad luck you had so she don't get the same. LMAO, just like the old timers to have an excuse for a nip here and nip there. I can't say we had *doctors orders* but it was about the same thing. As for me I am more like my grandmother and just have at it.

My old lady would make trips to the doctor to get pills for some little thing she could have had the whiskey fix. I cant remember any one in our family seeking a doctor for what is over the counter but it makes it legit. I get what this guy says about his granny taking nips of the elixir thats funny. No doctors orders for the drink but the result is the same.

No, but alcohol has helped me in a wealthy of ways, but like so many other "Rxs," it has a TONNE of side-effects.
