Hey. A friend of mine is crazy over Crown Royal canadian whiskey, and so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm going to pick up a bottle later today. It will be my first time drinking alcohol ever (i'm 23). Is it going to be hard to swallow and keep down? Should I mix a little bit of it in with something like coke? How do I prevent myself from throwing up. What's the max amount I should drink if I happen to like it? Thanks.

yeah, mix it with something over ice. Try to drink less than half a bottle, then you shouldn't get sick. It shouldn't be hard to swallow or keep down if it's mixed.

Crown Royal is a very good, high quality whiskey in my opinion. I would highly recommend not drinking it straight and mixing it with some coke. Coke and Crown go very well with each other. If you take shots remember to try to put it down very fast especially if its your first time. If you don't want to throw up defiantly don't take shots because thats how you get drunk very fast. If you like it you will know naturally not to drink more. When i drink i stop when i start to go pee more often and when you think that after a couple more you arent going to be making very wise decisions. Some people love Crown while other can not stand it, it is all on personal choice.

Good luck and be safe.

Try different ways of drinking it. A Whiskey Connoisseur will tell you the only way to drink it is neat (without any mixer or ice), so give that a try, just pour out a small glass and sip it slowly. If you don't like it immediately, give it time and see if it grows on you.

If not, add some ice and see if you like it cold.

If not, try mixing it with coke. A ratio of roughly 5:1 is reasonable, then adjust to taste.

Most alcoholic drinks are acquired tastes, and whiskey particularly so (in my opinion) so don't be surprised if you don't like it. Also, if you don't like it, don't decide that you just "don't like alcohol full stop." there's a massive variety of different alcoholic drinks to try.

You may not like the taste, but there will probably be no problem swallowing it and keeping it down if your only sipping it. There's no reason why it should make you throw up unless you get really very drunk.

To avoid getting drunk, just drink it slowly and stop when you start notice yourself become a little uncoordinated, and a faintly warm and fuzzy feeling through your whole body. This is the time to stop drinking, unless you mean to become drunk.

Take particular care if you mix it with coke- it is much easier to drink and you may find you drink it faster than you mean to.

First, everyone IS different and will react differently to alcoholic drinks. I'm assuming you plan to get dRuNK because nothing will happen on one or two 'drinks'. Generally, drink some water b4 you go out and especially b4 you go to bed. Don't drink on an empty stomach unless u want to save $ but willing to risk higher hangover/vomiting likelyhood. So bread is the universal food for this but just eating normally is fine too. Different drinks give you varying 'drunks'. Sugary drinks are particularly nasty without a perfect meal and pacing which I am yet to discover. So, experiment, you'll find your balance. But, try not to swich between much if at all when you start to drink something for a given night. For example, going between wine and beer in one night is a disaster for alot of ppl. Oh and pasta+beer or wine or liquor is one of the best.

Depends on your weight, but also on your general disposition. It also depends on how drunk you want to get. If you have 4.5 oz, and you are not like 200lbs, you should feel it in your head. (1 shot = 1.5 oz) Keeping it down is dependent on you gag reflex, and also how inclined you are to like one kind of alcohol over another. For example, I feel like puking on my first shot of some bad tequila like Jose Cuervo (40% alcohol by volume) but can endure shot after shot of Tanqueray even thought it is 47%. It just depends on your natural reaction, which I have no way of guessing. You probably should not injest more than 10.5 oz regardless of your weight as you will be trying it for the first time and it is unpredictable how you will react. Also, remember that alcohol increases confidence, so don't be 5 shots in and forget everything that you have decided beforehand. Get a plan and stick to it. Do not have any plans that involve driving unless you are only going to take like 2 shots. Also when mixing with coke or something make sure to pour the alcohol in first so you can keep track of how much you are actually drinking.

If you don't like it or have a bad experience, remember that alcohols are almost as different in nature as foods, and alcohol is the only thing all alcoholic drinks have in common. If you didn't like Crown Royal, you might like Mike's hard limonade, smirhoff Ice, or patron tequila.

Everyone reacts differently to alcohol. You should probably take it easy and not drink too much if it is your first time drinking alcohol, because you haven't built up a tolerance to it yet. Over time (if you continue to drink) you will be able to have more alcohol before getting drunk etc. Shots would probably be a bad idea.

I've never tried whiskey before, so who knows about the mixing. You could probably find a recipe online for mixed drinks that use whiskey.

Mix it with coke. Men usually like crown and coke. Don't drink it straight...but if you are brave and you do get a chaser. (a chaser if what you drink RIGHT after you take a shot of something i.e coke or soda) remember liquor before beer your all in the clear. Beer before liquor, you'll never be sicker.
